One of Chesnokov's most striking chant arrangements, this setting of the Polyeleios from the Orthodox AllNight Vigil service is based on a melody of traditional znamenny chant, which is heard alternately in stark unison and enhanced by chordal polyphony. Originally written for mixed voices, this arrangement for singlegender voices was made by the composer himself. .
