A number of years ago, I composed a piece for brass choir and timpani to coincide with the appointment of a new Dean of the School of Music at Lee University, where I work. A few months ago, Major Daniel Price, commanding officer and conductor of the USAF Band of Mid-America, contacted me about expanding that brass work to full concert band for his unit. It was, in fact, an idea I hadn't even considered, but looking back at the work, I realized that there was “more music” to be made of this older work. I agreed to take on the task and here is the result. Interestingly to note, this is not my first contract with Major Price. Years ago, when I was commissioned to write the SONG OF MOSES for the USAF Band and Singing Sergeants in Washington, then Lieutenant Price was the director of the Singing Sergeants. So far, so good. I just hope that the day he becomes “Colonel,” he still remembers my name and where I live.

Pirms vairākiem gadiem, es veido gabalu misiņa korim un timpāni, lai tas sakristu ar iecelts jauns dekāns mūzikas skolā pie Lī universitātē, kur es strādāju. Dažus mēnešus atpakaļ, Major Daniel Cena, komandieris un diriģents USAF Band Mid-America, sazinājās ar mani par paplašināt šo misiņa darbu pilnu koncertu joslas viņa vienību. Tas bija, patiesībā, ideja man nebija pat uzskatīt, bet atskatoties uz darbu, es sapratu, ka tur bija "daudz mūzikas", kas ir izgatavoti no šo vecāku darba. Es piekritu uzņemties šo uzdevumu, un šeit ir rezultāts. Interesanti atzīmēt, šis nav mans pirmais līgums ar būtisku cenu. Pirms daudziem gadiem, kad man tika uzdots uzrakstīt dziesmu par Mozu par USAF Band un dziedāšana seržanti Vašingtonā, tad leitnants cena bija direktors dziedāšanu seržanti. Līdz šim tik labi. Es tikai ceru, ka dienā viņš kļūst par "Pulkvedis", viņš joprojām atceras manu vārdu, un kur es dzīvoju.
