Ron starts with a look at Arthur Smith, the granddaddy of American fiddle, to show how much he influenced everyone that followed in the 1940s. From there he takes six prominent Flatt & Scruggs fiddlers and teaches representative recorded solos from each of them. Solos are taught from the playing of these seminal fiddlers. Arthur Smith, Jim Shumate, Benny Sims, Howdy Forrester and Benny Martin.
