This exquisite setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis was commissioned for the Nativity in Huntsville, Alabama. There is a gentle strength in this setting that is most appropriate for the Christmas season. The vocal lines match the drama of the text. There are duets for men and women alone as well as writing for four-part choir. The settings of the Gloria are strikingly different in each movement. the second one has a long crescendo to full organ. This Evening Service is suitable for Evensong as well at the Christmas season.
