At the height of the swing era. late 30s to mid 40s. , every band could boast a library containing a diverse array of arrangements, each to fulfill a different purpose. arrangements of the top pop songs of the day, oftentimes featuring a vocalist. ballads, perfect for a slow dance. novelty tunes, adding a touch of humor to any show. feature showcases that would put the spotlight on a particular instrumentalist, oftentimes the leader. Another staple of the times was the no-holds-barred, gloves-off, adrenaline-pumping, up-tempo swinger affectionately referred to as the flag-waver. On occasion, it featured a particular section of the band, and many times this honor fell to the trumpet section. Bugle 'N' Boogie is an update of the flag-wavers of years past, with the feature honors going full tilt to the trumpets. Appropriate for high school jazz ensembles. Lead trumpet ranges are modest and occasionally include optional notes for more accomplished players. Written solos are provided along with suggested parts for rhythm section and drum set.
