Filled with energy, this anthem expresses the joy and excitement of the birth of Jesus as told by the angels to the shepherds long ago. The piece opens with a quiet, melodic line, moves into a rhythmic, mixed meter chorus of Gloria in excelsis Deo, and finishes with a powerful proclamation of the Savior's birth. Flexible voicing readily accommodates the changing male voice and the use of unison and two part writing makes the anthem easy to learn.
