The tune appears in the early 19th century manuscript book of James Hurford of Spaxton, Somerset. Somerset Archives. D\P\chlch. 23. , headed 'Psalm 136 or 148', and with three verses of the metrical New Version Psalm 148 underlaid, beginning 'Ye boundless realms of joy', in place of the Watts text used by Clark.
