Oriģināls
Michael Haller, priest and Stiftskapelmeister at Regenburg, composed this Mass setting in the style of the 19th century German Caecilian Movement, originally for SAB a cappella. It is diatonic throughout, and Haller deliberately employed voice leading and ranges that would put it within reach of the average parish choir. See his Introduction to the original 1875 edition. Because of its simplicity and fresh sound, the Missa Prima achieved considerable popularity, and in 1902 Jakob Quadflieg published a new arrangement of the work scored for SATB with organ obligato. See his Introduction to the 1902 edition. Original text and translations. For information, refer to the.
